Description
CBP (4,4′-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1′-biphenyl) is one of the most established host materials for phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), widely used to support green and red iridium-based dopants in both vacuum-deposited and solution-processed devices. Its carbazole moieties provide a high triplet energy level that effectively confines excitons on the emitter, while the biphenyl core promotes balanced hole and electron transport, leading to reduced efficiency roll-off and longer operational lifetime.
Our CBP is purified by multiple vacuum sublimation passes to a guaranteed purity of 99.5% or higher, with metal ion residues controlled to parts-per-million levels to avoid quenching and leakage current in thin-film devices. Consistent batch-to-batch purity, verified by HPLC and GC-MS, ensures reproducible device performance for both research institutions and production fabs.
The material is supplied as a fine crystalline powder in sealed, low-permeability packaging to preserve purity during storage and handling. Typical applications include green and red phosphorescent OLED emissive layers, hybrid stacked devices, and co-host systems where CBP is combined with an electron-transporting material to further improve efficiency and stability.
Each lot ships with a certificate of analysis listing HPLC purity, sublimation grade, metal content and photophysical data such as HOMO/LUMO levels and triplet energy. Our technical team can assist with deposition parameters, co-evaporation ratios and device stack optimization.
As OLED technology continues to mature, reliable supply of high-purity host materials becomes increasingly important. With high purity, excellent reproducibility and dependable supply, CBP remains the workhorse host material for high-performance OLED development and production, supporting customers from early prototyping through pilot-scale manufacturing.
