Description
Methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA) is a liquid cycloaliphatic anhydride curing agent that reacts with epoxy resins to form highly crosslinked thermosets with outstanding electrical, mechanical and thermal performance. Its low viscosity and good reactivity balance give formulators a wide processing window, making it one of the preferred curing agents for electrical and electronic encapsulation.
Cured systems exhibit low dielectric constant and dissipation factor, excellent volume and surface resistivity, and high glass transition temperatures, satisfying stringent insulation requirements for transformers, insulators, bushings and dry-type electrical components. The aliphatic ring structure imparts excellent color stability, so products remain clear and light in color even after elevated temperature post-cure.
MHHPA offers a comparatively long pot life at room temperature, allowing large castings and impregnation processes to be completed without premature gelation. It can be used alone or blended with other anhydrides to adjust reactivity and cured-network flexibility, and is readily compatible with fillers such as silica to reduce shrinkage and improve thermal conductivity.
The curing agent is supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid with consistent acid value and water content, ensuring reproducible cure behavior. Typical applications include epoxy castings for insulators and coils, filament-wound composites, adhesives, tooling and electronics packaging.
Each shipment includes a certificate of analysis, and our technical support team helps customers optimize stoichiometry, cure schedules and filler loading. With dependable quality and responsive service, MHHPA helps manufacturers achieve reliable, void-free end products with excellent long-term electrical and thermal durability.
